CCGC General Gymnastics Squad
|
|
What is involved? General
Gymnastics is one of the British Gymnastics disciplines.
It involves a variety of different gymnastics experiences.
Each year, the squad is entered for approximately three
competitions within the Eastern Region.
In the past year, for example, gymnasts have competed in the
Level 1 and 2 Apparatus Championships in Peterborough, the Level 4 and 5
Apparatus Championships in Luton and the Floor and Vault Championships
in Colchester. When does the squad train? Fridays 4.30 - 5.30pm Upper
Squad Fridays 5.30 - 7.30pm Where
does the squad train? The
squad trains at the Parkside
Community College gymnasium in the centre of Cambridge.
Parkside Community College can be found on Parkside which runs
alongside Parker’s Piece. It is approximately 150m beyond the police
station on the right had side. Two large blue gates mark the entrance.
During class times, parking is usually available in the front
playground and the gym is the building to the right as you enter the
playground. N.B.
Building work is due to start in the back playground in March 2010 and
is expected to take approx a year to complete. During this time,
parking in the back playground is not available and the barrier to the
front playground will be lowered at 5pm so parents of gymnasts in the
4.30pm class will need to consider alternative parking arrangements at
dropping off time. How
much does it cost? The
cost for the 4.30 - 5.30pm Squad class is £15 a month for 10 sessions a
term.
The Upper Squad cost is £25 a month for 10 sessions a term. All
Squad fees are payable by setting up a Standing Order. This
monthly fee includes the cost of British Gymnastics and Regional
affiliation fees (both compulsory
for competing gymnasts), and all competition entry fees. Competitions To read a review of recent competitions and to see the competition calendar please click here.
