Can my son/daughter try out a session before joining Dynamics Gymnastics?

Potential gymnasts are more than welcome to come and view a session before joining a Dynamics Gymnastic class or waiting list.  When enrolling for a class, the Dynamics Gymnastics membership fee (max £15) is collected in order that gymnasts are insured to join the class.  Beyond this, parents of new gymnasts will not be expected to make any payments until the end of the first session in order that the gymnast can try out before committing to the term.  At this point, if the gymnast wishes to continue, the term fees are then payable.

How do I enrol my son/daughter for Dynamics Gymnastics classes?

At the current time all Dynamics Gymnastics classes are full.  To add your potential gymnast to a waiting list, please contact us by using the details on the Contact Us page.  We will need to know the club and class which the gymnast would like to join, the potential gymnast’s name, date of birth, prior experience and as many contact details as possible.  Please provide an e-mail if at all possible as this is the quickest and cheapest way to communicate.

What do gymnasts do during a Dynamics Gymnastics class?

Dynamics Gymnastics classes give gymnasts the opportunity to experience General Gymnastics.  General Gymnastics is a British Gymnastics discipline that encourages gymnasts to learn a variety of low level skills from other British Gymnastics disciplines such as Artistic Gymnastics, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics and Rhythmic Gymnastics.  During the classes, gymnasts progress towards achieving badges 8 – 1 of the British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Scheme followed by the Dynamics Gymnastics Award Scheme.  Gymnasts demonstrating particular potential in these classes will be offered the opportunity to join the City of Cambridge Gymnastics Club competition squads or they will be directed towards Gymnastics Clubs who offer competitions at a higher level.

Can I watch my gymnast during a Dynamics Gymnastics class?

On arrival at the first session, you will be invited to watch your gymnast participate in order that you can see what Dynamics Gymnastics is all about and whether or not your gymnast settles into the classes.  For Health and Safety reasons, however, beyond the first week parents are asked not to be present in the gym unless there are exceptional circumstances that have been discussed with the Head Coach.  On an annual basis, parents will be invited to watch a display session in order to catch up on their gymnast’s progress.

How much will it cost for my son/daughter to do Dynamics Gymnastics classes?

All Dynamics Gymnastics classes cost £45 a term with the exception of the shorter 9.10am Saturday Cambridge class which costs £40.  An additional annual fee of £15.00 is collected every July to cover Dynamics Gymnastics affiliation fees which are used to cover insurance requirements.  Fees are due at the beginning of each new term either in the form of a lump sum or two cheques, one post dated for half term.  The cost for the City of Cambridge General Gymnastics Squad is £15 a month and £25 a month for the Upper Squad.  This fee is collected by Standing Order and covers term fees, British Gymnastics and Regional Affiliation fees (both compulsory for competing gymnasts) and all competition fees.

What are gymnasts expected to wear during Dynamics Gymnastics classes?

We simply ask that gymnasts do not wear loose clothing or denim.  Leotards are obviously suitable as are t-shirts, shorts, leggings etc.  Gymnasts are asked to participate in bare feet, remove any jewellery and tie long hair back.  We do offer a range of club clothing, including a leotard, t-shirt, tracksuit and shorts but these are by no means compulsory.

Do Dynamics Gymnastics sell any clothing?

We sell our own range of non-compulsory Dynamics Gymnastics clothing including a t – shirt and leotard and CCGC squad clothing.

Do Dynamics Gymnastics run holiday programmes?

In August 2004 Diane and Nikki ran the first Dynamics Gymnastics holiday programme for one week at Parkside Community College. Following its success, we now run Holiday Programmes in Cambridge every Easter, Summer and most half term holidays.  You will be informed of any future Holiday Programmes by email if your gymnast is on our waiting list or in our term time classes but details always appear on the website first on the holiday programme page about half a term before the start of the course.

Do Dynamics Gymnastics know of any Level 2 + coaches who can run after school clubs or support teachers in delivering the National Curriculum?

There is not an abundance of gymnastics coaches qualified to Level 2 or above so the answer is typically no but its always worth asking.  At the moment, the few Level 2 + coaches we do have are mostly in full time education themselves during the day and tend to work at Dynamics Gymnastics classes during the few hours after school.  Viktoria has, however, recently been employed by the Cambridge City School Sports Partnership to work 10 hours a week in schools to assist teachers with the delivery of the National Curriculum.  In addition to this, Nikki has recently taken a step back from the administration side of running Dynamics Gymnastics with a view to increasing the amount of time available to develop school/club links.  The purpose of this will be to recruit more teenagers into coaching but also to train and potentially qualify teachers in teaching and coaching gymnastics.  Ultimately, we hope to help local schools to deliver the Gymnastics National Curriculum and extra-curricular clubs by providing training and advice particularly at a time when there are so few qualified gymnastics coaches to work directly with staff in schools.

Do you do any adult Dynamics Gymnastics classes?

Unfortunately the answer has always been no due to a lack of suitable equipment and suitably sized coaches.  Hopefully one day this situation will change and we will be able to offer adult classes at some point.

Does Dynamics Gymnastics offer private one to one gymnastics coaching?

Considering that the aim of Dynamics Gymnastics is to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy learning a variety of basic gymnastics skills, it is not within our ethos to limit the number of participants (except within health and safety recommendations) and therefore we do not offer one to one coaching sessions.
