URGENT MESSAGES (including unforeseen class cancellations)

Despite the adverse weather so far this Winter, all Dynamics Gymnastics classes are currently on as planned (as at 09/01/10).  In the event that we have to cancel a class due to a school closure or coaching staff not being able to get to and from the classes safely we will endeavour to inform parents/carers by email and by updating the home page and this page of the website.  As a general rule, there will not be a reduction in the term fee should a class be cancelled due to circumstances out of our control such as adverse weather but we will tag another session onto the end of term if the length of the term allows and we are able to secure the booking of the gym.

OTHER MESSAGES

The following article is the press release that was sent out at the start of Sept 2007:

Dynamics Gymnastics celebrates 5 successful years!

This September, Dynamics Gymnastics is celebrating 5 years of delivering high quality recreational gymnastics coaching to children and young people across the Cambridge area.

Formed in September 2002 by Diane Clark and Nikki Linsdell as City of Cambridge Gymnastics Club, Dynamics Gymnastics has grown from 3 classes and 80 gymnasts to 15 classes across 3 towns (Cambridge, Saffron Walden and Linton) serving more than 500 gymnasts in term time and through holiday classes.

In Cambridge, where the original classes began at Parkside Community College, over 300 gymnasts are now accommodated in 10 classes.

Diane, Nikki and their small army of coaches have worked tirelessly over the last 5 years to deliver an enjoyable and engaging experience for all their recreational gymnasts, regardless of their level of ability. At a time when children and young people are often portrayed as lethargic and un-fit, Dynamics Gymnastics gives them the opportunity to exercise, learn and develop social skills.

“Our aim is to provide General Gymnastics in a safe and stimulating learning environment,” says Nikki.

“We try to ensure that the learning is always fun and we’ve had a lot of very positive feedback. Some of the gymnasts have been on our waiting list for over a year by the time they start classes so we try hard to ensure that it’s worth the wait!”

Whilst a number of gymnasts have progressed to elite level clubs like Huntingdon and Bury Spectrum, 2 original gymnasts have developed with Dynamics Gymnastics throughout the entire 5 years. Ruby and Keri, both from Cambridge, were among the first through the door in September 2002.

“My gym club is just great!” says Keri, now 10 “I have made loads of friends and I have learnt a lot of new moves.  I have taken part in several competitions and even won a few medals.”

Thirteen-year-old Ruby enjoys learning from the coaches, many of whom have achieved professional qualifications whilst still at school themselves. She says,  “It can sometimes be easier to relate to the coaches if they are closer to your age.”

Dynamics Gymnastics are strong believers of encouraging their learners to become teachers and a handful of other original gymnasts are now part of the Dynamics Gymnastics 20-strong coaching team, including Kayleigh Tucker, who is now class manager.

“Finding high quality gymnastics coaches isn’t easy and we firmly believe in giving enthusiastic gymnasts the opportunity to learn and develop as coaches,” comments Diane, who is responsible for the difficult issue of staffing. “This policy has served us really well over the last five years and we have developed an excellent team.”

Reflecting on the last five years, Nikki is proud of what has been achieved. “It’s been really hard work at times but watching the classes we can see that it’s all been worthwhile.

We’re not in the business of creating Olympic champions but hopefully we can set a few stars of the future on their way.”

“Who knows what will happen in the next few years but we’d love to see over 1000 gymnasts in Dynamics Gymnastics classes come 2012.
